Homemade Hamburger Buns

I made this recipe for a barbecue and it fascinated me! The taste is soft and sweet, but the bread is dense and consistent, and fluffy at the same time. If you try it, you will love it, I’m sure.

And I had it for breakfast with butter and jam the next morning, let me tell you, it was amazing!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup and 2 tablespoons or warm water
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 3-1/2 cups flour
  • Sesame seeds to decorate

Preparation:

The first thing we have to do is dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the oil and sugar, give it a little mix and let sit for 5 minutes.

We beat the egg and set aside a small amount to paint the buns later. We add the rest of the egg and the salt to the mixture of water, which should have activated already. Give it another mix.

Add the flour. It should be enough to form a soft dough.

Put on a floured surface and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, between 3 and 5 minutes. Do not let rise.

We divide the dough into 12 pieces. If we want bigger buns, we can divide it into 8 pieces. We shape them into a ball and place them on the oven tray, previously greased with a little bit of olive oil.

Hamburger buns on tray

Cover with a cloth and let rise for about 10 minutes. Uncover and paint the tops with the beaten egg. Then sprinkle the sesame seeds on top to decorate.

Put them in the oven at 200ºC for 8-12 minutes, or until they are nice and golden. When they are done, remove them from the tray and place them on a wire rack to cool.

They are perfect for hamburgers, for sandwiches, for toast … Enjoy!
